PLCI - Professional Linguistics Certified Interpreter |
The PLCI certification indicates the bearer has demonstrated advanced knowledge of professional interpretation process and has passed a verbal interpreting assessment in their native and applicable secondary languages.
Requirements:
- Adherence and annual commitment to the Professional Linguistics Courtroom Interpreter Code of Ethics
- Candidates must hold the PLLI status in good standing
- Successful completion of the Certified Interpreter & Translator class either online or in person
- Achieve a passing score on the online PLCI Exam
- Must annually pass a criminal background check and provide documentation
- Annually provide documentation of at least 1 interpretation or translation assignment per year

Exam requirements:
- Verbal examination via telephone - must be taken within two weeks after class completion.
- Several audio prompted questions in both English and your target certification language.
- Answers must be conducted as a live interpreting session would dictate.
- Test will be timed and must be completed within the time allotted for each interpretation minutes or forfeit remaining questions.
