Professional Linguistics Interpreter Education
Why license and certify interpreters? Although there are many bilingual and multilingual people, it takes talent and knowledge in order to be a successful interpreter. Customers are demanding increasing levels of quality in the courtroom, medical facilities, and other environments to ensure that non-English speaking or hard of hearing persons are able to participate fairly. Poor quality can lead to the deprivation of someone's rights, costly mistrials, or failed events. Certification and licensing provides a means to communicate your professional status as an interpreter or translator.
